Hello everyone!  Its been quite a long time since I last posted... A lot has happened in the last year and I am loving every bit of the new chapter I have started.

As of June 2009 I officially retired as a competitive gymnast.  I didn't get the chance to compete again like I had hoped, however I am proud of myself for what I have accomplished...  I have a trunk full of ribbons from my early years.  I have multiple collegiate national titles.  I am a 20 time Collegiate All-American.  And I have a release move on high-bar that no one else has competed yet... wow!  I look back on my career and can't help but feel overwhelmed and humbled given all the obstacles I had to overcome.

Right after I retired I found a job as a boys team coach at Eastside Gymnastics Academy.  Its located in Woodinville Washington, very close to Seattle so I can stay active in helping the UW Men's Team.  Right now I am the level 4-5 coach and they are having a great season so far.  I really look forward to what this program will become in the next 5 years.

Well, believe it or not I'm still training.  I want to give competition one more try.  My body is getting older and not so cooperative lately, so this is going to be much harder this time around.  I am going to have to try competing with less preparation, and a little more pain than expected.  I have narrowed it down to only training high bar so I can perfect my routine and have a shot at placing at USA's this summer.

I have been doing some photography lately too.  I have been taking pictures of the team while at competitions, and I have also had the opportunity of doing some engagement photos as well.  Gina and Kyle are getting married this June and I will also be shooting their wedding.  I am very excited for this as are Kyle and Gina.

In case you didn't know, the Olympic team has been selected and I'm not on it. I didn't even make it to the trials which was sort of expected because of how training was going leading up to the USA Qualifier. Injuries made training very difficult and Pommel Horse suffered the most. I wasn't able to train pommels until the day before the competition. I missed qualifying by a few placements on pommel horse. This was the 5th time I have tried to make it to the USA National competition, and its the 5th time I have come up short. It is a bit frustrating, but this life is all about endurance, especially when you have a goal set so high for yourself.
This summer I am painting houses and training. I just incurred a knee injury (left knee) yesterday and I will be getting an MRI on it ASAP. I don't know what I did, but it doesn't feel very good and I cant run jump or land on it without a lot of pain in my patellar tendon.

So its been quite a while since I last let you know what has been happening in my life. Now I am training to make the Olympic Trials but there are a couple of nagging injuries that are making it a little difficult. I have persistent pain in my left shoulder and my supposed "good" knee wont let me tumble very much. Right now I can train Vault, Pommels, and High Bar. I am currently going to the University of Washington, it's my second quarter and I am liking it quite a bit. I am also the Assistant Coach to the team and get to travel with them to the competitions.

2007 Qualifiers - I am competing again! I petitioned into the USA Qualifiers held in Colorado Springs on June 7th. I am only doing high-bar, but I have a chance to make the second day and even qualify to the Visa Championships. I am very excited to be able to compete again. I didn't know if I was going to get this chance again and am very grateful and blessed.

So it has been quite a while since I last updated this web site. My knee is recovering well, I expect to be able to compete at USA Qualifiers in June. My shoulder however has been giving me some trouble, I might have to rest for a week or so. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow to find out what I did to it.

Surgery - It has been ten days since my surgery, and I am doing just fine. The doc said that it went very smoothly and the meniscus wasn't as bad as they thought. So now it's healing time. I have been slowly getting back on my feet, and I have been doing as much physical therapy as I can stand. I really look forward to getting back into the gym ASAP!
